The First Private Teaching Hospital in South Africa, Johannesburg

Training Posts

What is a training post?

The training of specialists and sub-specialists is done on an apprenticeship basis and trainees are paid a salary during their training time.  These salaries are determined by the Public Sector and are influenced by policy changes and standard consumer price index adjustments.

A Training post allows WDGMC to pay this salary to the trainee doctor during their training period. Without these posts the training of specialists and sub-specialists cannot happen even though the hospital has the appropriate highly specialised facilities and medical expert trainers in place.

Each WDGMC training post is accredited by the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
