Professor Bizos graduated as a doctor in 1983. He qualified as a General Surgeon in 1992. He was registered with the HPCSA as a Surgical Gastroenterologist in 1998. He was employed at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital for 37 years until 2023 and was Academic Head of Surgical Gastroenterology at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2008 - 2023. He is currently in full time private practice and is Clinical Head of Surgery at Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre. He is a Visiting Adjunct Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand.
