Prof. Wade is a specialist physician and endocrinologist. After completing her medical degree with honours at the University of the West Indies, she obtained a DPhil (PhD) from Oxford University in the United Kingdom; her doctoral work focused on the use of blood glucose self-monitoring in patients with type-2 diabetes who are not using insulin. She subsequently completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Centre and fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Pennsylvania, both in the United States. Prof. Wade is an active researcher with over 60 peer-reviewed publications. She received an Emerging Global Leader award from the National Institute of Health in the United States to support her research into endocrine and metabolic diseases in lower and middle income countries. In her clinical practice she sees patients with all types of endocrine disorders and focuses on delivering patient-centred care.
