Marianne Gomes is a Genetic Counsellor and Lecturer in the Division of Human Genetics at the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) and the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). After a decade in the field of accountancy, Marianne decided to pursue a career in genetic counselling, combining her love for biology with a patient-centred focus. she regularly consults with patients and families who either have, or are at risk of, genetic conditions. Her areas of research interest include breast cancer, particularly in under-represented communities, and Huntington's Disease
