Dr Macaulay is a Principal Medical Scientist in Human Genetics and a registered Genetic Counsellor at the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS). She has been practicing as a Genetic Counsellor in both the State and Private healthcare sectors since 2008. She also holds a joint appointment as a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Human Genetics, at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she coordinates the Masters degree programme in Genetic Counselling, and lecturers and trains students and interns in the Division. Dr Macaulay is passionate about increasing the awareness of genetic counselling in South Africa and improving access to the service for all patients.
