Dr Macaulay holds a Masters degree in Genetic Counselling and a PhD from the University of the Witwatersrand. She has been practicing as a registered Genetic Counsellor since 2008 and is also the Genetic Counselling Manager at the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS). She also holds a joint appointment as a Lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand where she coordinates the Masters degree in Genetic Counselling programme. Dr Macaulay is passionate about increasing the awareness about the field of genetic counselling in South Africa and improving access to the service for patients in both the State and Private healthcare sectors.
